In Japan there are mascot characters everywhere and people love cute stuff. There are even condoms who became cute mascot characters!

Yesterday, talking with Ale, he said to me: “Have you realized that DVD is a synonym for porn in Japan?”. And yes, it is a synonym, at list in a “street” context. If you walking around in any Japan city streets and you see a sign that says only “DVD”, then it is for sure a porn movie store.

Now you know, if you come to Japan beware of “DVD” 😉 Can you find the DVD in this picture?

“Bento” in Japanese means “lunchbox”. “Bento” can be prepared by oneself at home or you can buy it already prepared in “bento” shops or in convinience stores. A typical “bento” has a white rice, pickles and a “main dish”. The way you fit the food inside the “bento” is very important and some people take it so seriously that it can become an art, take a look:
