She was half-asleep, but I swear she had her eyes closed while they crossed the street with the bike!

Is there something about sleeping in public that is so awesome? I understand it going on in trains but just on the street like that is pretty funny.

Gotta love how foreigners think this is strange …
Most of them have a 6 day work/study week .. by the time they get home .. they only have 3-4 hours sleep
They catch any rest whenever they can.

My girlfriend would sleep on the back of my motorbike on the freeway at 110km/h, used to scare the crap out of me.

I found their sleeping contageous. I never sleep in public, but in Tokyo, I had no problem falling asleep on the train with lots of people around.

It is so interesting that i cannot imagine how dare they are sleeping in public.
Although it is very normal sleep in subway,i think that it is so funny sleep on the street, impossible in China.
If i was born in Japan, perhaps i have to look for public toliet and wash my eyes up,because i do not want to people around me consider about me and everyone else……hahahaha~~~~

[…] A Japanese guy has invented a new super-gadget that helps him to announce to the people sitting around him in which station he is planning to get off the train. Thanks to this gadget we will be able to sleep without having to worry about waking up because our fellow travelers will hopefully wake us up in our when we arrive to our destination. […]

they sleep everywhere its awesome, the plaza beside sunroute plaza hotel, shinjuku is the best one for guys in suits 😛

I cant help wondering.. can people actually get good sleep this way? Apparently this is normal and maybe Japanese have less of an obession with ‘comfortable’ when they sleep than do Americans 🙂

I have a weird feeling it’s cause their country is so homeogenous and the whole ‘collectivist’ society thing. So everyone might be like family in a way and everywhere there is home so it’s safe to sleep in public.
Sleeping in public is so cool. -.- I’ve been doing it for a short-ish while, but I don’t always feel totally safe, especially since my mom/aunt always scold me when I do it [since I fall asleep when I’m alone, and sometimes people can’t see me].
Then again, sleeping in public, no one can do anything to you, since everyone can see.
